WHEREAS, in the United States, an estimated 26 million women between the ages of 15 and 50 have uterine fibroids; and
WHEREAS, as women age, prevalence of uterine fibroids increases, with more than 70 percent of white women and more than 84 percent of black women having fibroids documented by imaging or surgical records by age 49; and
WHEREAS, uterine fibroids may cause further health complications and may require treatment; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly designate July, in 2024 and in each succeeding year, as Uterine Fibroids Awareness Month in Virginia; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates post the designation of this month on the General Assembly's website.
