WHEREAS, Emily Elizabeth Selke, a beloved daughter, sister, and friend in Nokesville, died on March 24, 2015; and WHEREAS, a lifelong resident of Nokesville, Emily Selke was a member of the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. and attended Brentsville High School and Woodbridge High School Center for the Fine and Performing Arts, where she was a member of the choir, choir counsel, physics club, and Beta Club; and WHEREAS, admired for her leadership abilities, Emily Selke also served as senior class vice president, a choir section leader, and a student ambassador to Australia before graduating from Woodbridge Senior High School with high honors in 2010; and WHEREAS, Emily Selke attended Drexel University, where she studied music and business administration and was a member of the Gamma Sigma Sigma national service sorority, from which she earned the Cornerstone Award; and WHEREAS, after graduating magna cum laude from Drexel University, Emily Selke supported music and art events, including the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh and Pittsburgh; she later worked for the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton and as a client service associate for Carr Workplaces; and WHEREAS, Emily Selke, who died together with her mother, Yvonne, will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her father, Raymond; brother, Trevor; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Emily Elizabeth Selke, a beloved member of the Nokesville community; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Emily Elizabeth Selke as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory. |
