HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 359
Commending the Washington Metropolitan Cricket Board.

WHEREAS, for more than two decades, the Washington Metropolitan Cricket Board has promoted the sport of cricket, while facilitating the creation of clubs and supporting tournament-level play for adults and youth; and

WHEREAS, established in 2001, the Washington Metropolitan Cricket Board is now a well-consolidated hard-ball league with more than 1,000 members in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.; and

WHEREAS, in 2014, the Washington Metropolitan Cricket Board began offering the use of natural turf wickets to its general membership; it was the only league in the Mid-Atlantic region to offer natural turf wickets and one of the few leagues in the entire country to do so; and

WHEREAS, the Washington Metropolitan Cricket Board primarily holds games at Mark Twain Park in Alexandria and Laurel Cricket Park and Oxon Hill Park in Maryland and consistently seeks new grounds to better serve its player base; and

WHEREAS, the Washington Metropolitan Cricket Board primarily operates in the Mid-Atlantic region but has played games in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and California; and

WHEREAS, the Washington Metropolitan Cricket Board is affiliated with USA Cricket and welcomes new clubs and players of all skill levels to foster greater participation and grow the sport for future generations; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Washington Metropolitan Cricket Board hereby be commended for its years of service to players and fans of cricket in Northern Virginia; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Washington Metropolitan Cricket Board as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the organization's accomplishments in service to the cricket community.
