WHEREAS, for 50 years, the Vienna Arts Society has enhanced the quality of life in Vienna by increasing access to the arts and providing outreach programs to members of the public; and
WHEREAS, the Vienna Arts Society is a nonprofit organization supported by generous donations from local individuals and community partners, as well as a grant from the Vienna Business Association and support from ArtsFairfax; and
WHEREAS, the Vienna Arts Society hosts classes and workshops for children and adults of all skill levels and holds regular meetings at its Art Center for members; and
WHEREAS, the Vienna Arts Society Art Center features rotating displays of original artwork by local artists and a gift shop with handmade items from local artisans like jewelry, cards, textiles, ceramics, sculptures, prints, carvings, and more; and
WHEREAS, the Vienna Arts Society also maintains an art gallery and works with multiple venues in the Vienna area and beyond to host annual and special exhibits; and
WHEREAS, to commemorate its 50th anniversary, the Vienna Arts Society engaged in the "take a seat" project, where artists painted unique benches to be auctioned off and placed throughout the town; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Vienna Arts Society hereby be commended on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Vienna Arts Society as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the organization's contributions to cultural life in Vienna.
