Celebrating the life of Charles Armistead Blanton III.

WHEREAS, Charles Armistead Blanton III, an honorable veteran, esteemed attorney, and beloved member of the Richmond community, died on May 18, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Charles "Charlie" Blanton graduated from St. Christopher's School in Richmond, where he was co-captain of the football team and a member of a championship-winning baseball team; and

WHEREAS, after completing a post-graduate year at Fork Union Military Academy and briefly attending and playing football at The College of William & Mary, Charlie Blanton joined the United States Navy, serving his country with honor and distinction as an air crewman on the U.S.S. Essex; and

WHEREAS, following his service, Charlie Blanton earned a bachelor's degree from Hampden-Sydney College, where he was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society, and a juris doctor degree from the University of Richmond School of Law; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Blanton briefly practiced family law before finding his true calling at the Virginia Electric and Power Company, now Dominion Energy, where he worked for more than 35 years, primarily in the Nuclear Fuel Procurement Department; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Blanton's career took him to many corners of the globe, including Germany, Austria, France, England, Spain, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Russia, Australia, Canada, and various parts of the United States, as he fostered many meaningful and lasting relationships with colleagues and professional acquaintances; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Blanton will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Christianna; his children, Armistead and Dabney, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Charles Armistead Blanton III, a revered member of the Richmond community whose light brightened countless lives; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Charles Armistead Blanton III as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
