A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding in Article 1 of Chapter 11 of Title 8.01 a section numbered 8.01-336.1, relating to the scheduling of jury trials.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Article 1 of Chapter 11 of Title 8.01 a section numbered 8.01-336.1 as follows:

§8.01-336.1. Jury trial; shall not commence on a general election day.

The first day of a trial by jury shall not be scheduled on the day of a general election as defined in §24.2-101.
