WHEREAS, Travis G. Hill, former chief executive officer of the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority, stepped down from his position with the state organization on November 10, 2023; and
WHEREAS, Travis Hill previously served as the deputy secretary of agriculture and forestry under Governors Robert McDonnell and Terry McAuliffe and was appointed chief operating officer of the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (Virginia ABC) in 2014 when it was still a state agency; and
WHEREAS, after leading the Virginia ABC through its transition from a state department to an independent authority, Travis Hill was appointed the authority's first chief executive officer in 2018; and
WHEREAS, as chief executive officer of the Virginia ABC, Travis Hill ably led an organization that operates nearly 400 stores statewide, provides alcohol education and prevention programs for people of all ages, and oversees approximately 19,000 licensed establishments; and
WHEREAS, Travis Hill was instrumental to the Virginia ABC's recent efforts to modernize its technology system, build a new central office and distribution center, and reform its licensing structure, enhancing the authority's ability to serve citizens and businesses of the Commonwealth while ensuring public safety; and
WHEREAS, over Travis Hill's tenure with the Virginia ABC, the state organization netted more than $4 billion in the form of profits and tax collections for the benefit of the Commonwealth, while earning recognition for its accomplishments in the areas of innovation, education, and enforcement; and
WHEREAS, under Travis Hill's visionary and effective leadership, the Virginia ABC was twice named the Alcohol Law Enforcement Agency of the Year by the National Liquor Law Enforcement Association; and
WHEREAS, Travis Hill has made an impact on alcohol regulation nationwide by serving both as president and as a member of the National Conference of State Liquor Administrators Executive Committee; and
WHEREAS, through his steadfast professionalism, Travis Hill has left an indelible mark both on the Virginia ABC and the Commonwealth, earning the praise and esteem of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Travis G. Hill for his service as chief executive officer of the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Travis G. Hill as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his contributions to the Commonwealth and best wishes in his future endeavors.
