WHEREAS, Nancy Lee Revercomb Brubaker, an accomplished farmer and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and member of the Harrisonburg community, died on August 19, 2023; and

WHEREAS, after graduating from the former Dayton High School and earning a bachelor's degree in education from what was then Madison College, today James Madison University (JMU), Nancy Brubaker devoted herself to caring for and supporting her family; and

WHEREAS, alongside her husband, Daniel, Nancy Brubaker worked to improve and enlarge her grandfather's farm, which she renamed Shenmont, where generations of family members have raised award-winning Guernsey cattle for years; and

WHEREAS, Nancy and Daniel Brubaker also founded the Virginia Silo Company and Rockingham Redi-Mix, facilitating the operations and endeavors of farmers and builders in the Central Shenandoah Valley region; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Brubaker enjoyed hosting foreign exchange students over the years and supported many young people through the Nancy Revercomb Brubaker '56 Endowed Scholarship for Foreign Exchange Students in the College of Business at JMU and by teaching high school English as a Second Language classes to Vietnamese refugees; and

WHEREAS, a passionate leader of her local 4-H, Nancy Brubaker contributed greatly to the Rockingham County Fair over many years, where she showed cattle and judged the canning and home goods competition; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Brubaker gave generously of her time for the benefit of her community as a member of her local Ruritan club, where she was recognized as a Tom Downing Fellow, as a longstanding volunteer at the Bridgewater Retirement Community and the former Rockingham Memorial Hospital, and as a member of the board of the Fort Harrison museum in Dayton; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of her service and support, Nancy and Daniel Brubaker were named Philanthropists of the Year in 2019 by the Shenandoah chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Brubaker will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by her loving husband of more than 70 years, Daniel; her children, Barry, Lynn, Thomas, and Lisa, and their families; and numerous other family member and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of Virginia hereby note with great sadness the loss of Nancy Lee Revercomb Brubaker, a cherished member of the Harrisonburg community who was a source of joy and inspiration to all who knew her; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Nancy Lee Revercomb Brubaker as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's respect for her memory.
