Summary

Various education matters. Provides that every public school building shall be supplied with safe, potable water from a public water system approved by the commissioner of the department of environmental management. Provides that the financial specialist appointed for the Gary Community School Corporation may perform the duties authorized under the statute for not more than 24 consecutive months (rather than 12 consecutive months, under current law). Amends the definition of "secondary school" to include certain elementary grades for purposes of a federal student loan forgiveness program for highly qualified teachers in high needs areas.
