FLOOR AMENDMENT EXPLANATION

 

·         Stipulates a hearing must be held within seven calendar days after an initial appearance if a person is not admitted to bail, unless the person or state moves for a continuance.

Line 18, strike "detention or the state moves for a continuance." insert "are met.  The hearing must be held within seven calendar days after the initial appearance unless the person who is subject to detention or the state moves for a continuance."

Line 20, after "circumstances." strike remainder of line

Line 21, strike "of the state shall be granted on good cause" insert "A continuance on the motion of the state shall be granted only on a finding of good cause"
