HOUSE BILL 2082

 

 

 

AN ACT

 

AMENDING Title 15, chapter 7, article 5, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 15-789.01; appropriating monies; relating to career and technical education.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 15, chapter 7, article 5, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 15-789.01, to read:

START_STATUTE15-789.01.  Junior reserve officer training corps; career technical education course or program

A.  A school district, charter school or career technical education district that offers a junior reserve officer training corps program shall classify the program as a career technical education course or program.

B.  The career and technical education division of the department of education shall approve a career technical education district's junior reserve officer training corps program that meets the REQUIREMENTS of either a career technical education course as defined in section 15‑391 or a career technical education district program as defined in section 15‑391. Sec. 2.  Appropriation; department of education; junior reserve officer training corps programs

The sum of $500,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2019-2020 to the department of education for distribution on a prorated per pupil basis to the following:

1.  Career technical education districts that offer a junior reserve officer training corps program that has been approved by the career and technical education division of the department of education as either a career technical education course as defined in section 15‑391, Arizona Revised Statutes, or a career technical education district program as defined in section 15‑391, Arizona Revised Statutes.

2.  School districts that offer a junior reserve officer training corps program that the department of education determines would meet the requirements for either a career technical education course as defined in section 15‑391, Arizona Revised Statutes, or a career technical education district program as defined in section 15‑391, Arizona Revised Statutes, if that junior reserve officer training corps program were operated by a career technical education district.
