AN ACT
amending title 12, chapter 5, article 3, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 12‑558.04; relating to civil liability.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Title 12, chapter 5, article 3, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 12-558.04, to read:
12-558.04. Qualified immunity; defamation actions; protected communications
Notwithstanding any other law, a person is not liable for damages in a civil action involving a claim of defamation for making a statement or communication in good faith that relates to any of the following unless the person acted with gross negligence:
1. the reporting or investigation of a crime by law enforcement or a prosecutor.
2. A judicial proceeding, including a statement or communication that is preliminary to a proposed judicial proceeding.
