AN ACT
establishing the teacher school supplies grants pilot program; APPROPRIATING monies.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Teacher school supplies pilot program; requirements; delayed repeal
A. The department of education shall conduct a one‑year teacher school supplies pilot program. A teacher who is employed by a school district or charter school and who provides classroom instruction for at least three hours during a regular school day shall receive, at the beginning of the 2019‑2020 school year, $200 to be used to purchase school supplies for use in the teacher's classroom.
B. The department of education may adopt policies and procedures to carry out the purposes of the pilot program.
C. This section is repealed from and after February 15, 2021.
Sec. 2. Appropriation; department of education; teacher school supplies pilot program
The sum of $12,000,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2019-2020 to the department of education for distribution to teachers who provide instruction for at least three hours during a regular school day under the pilot program prescribed in section 1 of this act.
