amending section 28-1594, Arizona Revised Statutes; relating to civil traffic violations.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Section 28-1594, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended to read:

START_STATUTE28-1594.  Authority to detain persons; traffic complaint quota prohibited

A.  A peace officer or duly authorized agent of a traffic enforcement agency may stop and detain a person as is reasonably necessary to investigate an actual or suspected violation of this title and to serve a copy of the traffic complaint for an alleged civil or criminal violation of this title.

B.  This state or a political subdivision of this state may not implement traffic complaint quota requirements for a peace officer or duly authorized agent of a traffic enforcement agency. END_STATUTE
