AN ACT
amending title
31, chapter 2, article 3, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 31‑256;
relating to labor by prisoners.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Title 31, chapter 2, article 3, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 31-256, to read:
31-256. Prisoner injuries;
industrial commission notification
If a prisoner is injured while engaged in
productive work in any state prison or institution under the jurisdiction of
the department or a private prison under contract with the department as part
of the prison industries program or while engaged in productive work for a
private person, firm, corporation or association under a contract pursuant to
section 41‑1624.01, the director shall provide notice of the injury to
the industrial commission of Arizona in the same manner as if the prisoner were
entitled to workers' compensation under title 23, chapter 6. This section does not provide benefits to a
prisoner who is injured.
