HOUSE BILL 2572

 

 

 

AN ACT

 

Establishing the Salt River horse herd study committee.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Salt River horse herd study committee; membership; duties; report; delayed repeal

A.  The Salt River horse herd study committee is established consisting of the following members:

1.  Two members of the senate from different political parties who are appointed by the president of the senate.

2.  Two members of the house of representatives from different political parties who are appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives.

3.  One member who represents a university under the jurisdiction of the Arizona board of regents and who has experience in veterinary medicine who is appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives.

4.  One member who represents the college of veterinary medicine at Midwestern university who is appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives.

B.  The study committee shall study:

1.  The environmental and fiscal impact of the Salt River horse herd.

2.  The feasibility and action necessary to actively manage the Salt River horse herd, including the consideration of entering into an agreement with the United States forest service to manage the Salt River horse herd.

C.  The study committee shall submit a report regarding the study committee's findings and recommendations on or before December 31, 2016 to the governor, the president of the senate and the speaker of the house of representatives and provide a copy of this report to the secretary of state.

D.  This section is repealed from and after September 30, 2017.
