AN ACT
amending section 49-447, Arizona Revised Statutes; relating to air quality.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Section 49-447, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended to read:
49-447. Motor vehicle and combustion engine emission; standards
The director shall adopt rules setting forth standards controlling the release into the atmosphere of air contaminants from motor vehicles and combustion engines. Any rules adopted pursuant to this section shall be consistent with provisions of federal law, if any, relating to control of emissions from motor vehicles or combustion engines. These rules shall incorporate the standards adopted by the California air resources board relating to motor vehicles as in effect on January 1, 2018 under a waiver issued pursuant to 42 United States Code section 7543 and that are authorized to be adopted by this state pursuant to section 177 of the clean air act (42 United States code section 7507). This authority shall apply to implement the provisions of sections 28‑955 and 49‑542.
