An Act
repealing section 15-231.03, Arizona Revised Statutes; amending title 15, chapter 2, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding a new section 15-231.03; relating to the department of education.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Repeal
Section 15-231.03, Arizona Revised Statutes, is repealed.
Sec. 2. Title 15, chapter 2, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section 15-231.03, to read:
15-231.03. School survey; posting requirement; annual report
A. The department shall administer an annual survey of the students, parents of students and employees of school districts and charter schools in this state that includes questions regarding the following topics:
1. School climate.
2. School Safety.
3. Barriers to engagement.
4. Character education.
5. Supporting student behavior management.
6. Appropriate content in school curricula.
7. Respecting people as individuals.
B. The department shall annually post the results of the survey that is administered pursuant to subsection A of this section, disaggregated by:
1. School district or charter school.
2. Individual school, consistent with federal law.
C. On or before January 15 each year, the department shall report the results of the survey that is administered pursuant to subsection A of this section to the chairpersons of the senate and house of representatives education committees, or their successor committees. The department shall include in the report a summary of the department's findings and recommendations regarding school safety and school climate in this state.
D. The department may contract with a public or private entity for the purposes of this section.
