AN ACT
amending title 9, CHAPTER 2, Article 3, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 9-232.05; amending title 9, chapter 2, article 4, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 9-273.01; amending title 9, chapter 2, article 5, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 9-286; amending section 15-422, Arizona Revised Statutes; relating to town, city and school district elections.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Title 9, chapter 2, article 3, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 9-232.05, to read:
9-232.05. Partisan nomination petitions; ballots
Candidates for the office of common council and mayor shall file partisan nomination petitions as prescribed in section 16-314 and the candidates' names shall appear on the primary ballot of the appropriate political party along with the title of the office. This section applies without respect to whether the mayor is directly elected by the electors, whether the council members are elected by a district system or whether the council members are divided into classes.
Sec. 2. Title 9, chapter 2, article 4, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 9-273.01, to read:
9-273.01. Partisan nomination petitions; ballots
Candidates for the office of common council and mayor shall file partisan nomination petitions as prescribed in section 16-314 and the candidates' names shall appear on the primary ballot of the appropriate political party along with the title of the office. This section applies without respect to whether the mayor is directly elected by the electors, whether the council members are elected by a district system or whether the council members are divided into classes.
Sec. 3. Title 9, chapter 2, article 5, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 9-286, to read:
9-286. Partisan nomination petitions; ballots
Candidates for the office of common council and mayor shall file partisan nomination petitions as prescribed in section 16-314 and the candidates' names shall appear on the primary ballot of the appropriate political party along with the title of the office. This section applies without respect to whether the mayor is directly elected by the electors, whether the council members are elected by a district system or whether the council members are divided into classes.
Sec. 4. Section 15-422, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended to read:
15-422. Partisan nomination petitions; ballots
A. Nominating petitions for school district governing board members shall be partisan nomination petitions as prescribed in section 16-314 and shall be filed with the county school superintendent as prescribed by title 16, chapter 3. Nominating petitions shall be signed by a number of qualified electors of the district as provided in section 16‑322. Nominating petitions for persons seeking to fill a vacancy on a governing board shall be partisan nomination petitions and shall be designated as provided in section 16‑314.
B. The county school superintendent may cause separate ballots to be prepared, or such school district candidates' names may be included as a part of the regular ballot. In any event the names of all persons whose petitions have been filed shall appear on a ballot, without partisan or other designation except for the appropriate political party along with the title of the office.
