AN ACT
amending title 12, chapter 7, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 12-824; relating to actions against public entities.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Title 12, chapter 7, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 12-824, to read:
12-824. Claims for medical expenses; recovery of actual payments only; definitions
A. In any claim against a public entity or public employee to recover medical expenses incurred as a result of bodily injury, the claimant is entitled to recover only the amount actually paid in full satisfaction of the services, including any co-payment or deductible paid or payable by or on behalf of the injured person.
B. For the purposes of this section:
1. "Claim" means any legal proceeding, underinsured and uninsured motorist proceeding, arbitration or other similar proceeding in which the recovery of medical expenses for bodily injury is permitted.
2. "Public entity" means any political subdivision of this state and any public educational institution.
