Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Title 16, chapter 4, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 16-406.01, to read:
16-406.01. Inspection of voting equipment; elected officials; access
NOTWITHSTANDING any other law, the chair and ranking member of the house and senate committees with jurisdiction over elections may inspect any and all voting equipment used in a jurisdiction while accompanied by an expert of their choice. During any inspection the chair or ranking member of the opposing party has the right to attend. On request of the elected official, the inspection shall include access to all source code and other proprietary material related to the voting equipment. An elected official may conduct the inspection at any time with five calendar days notice to their opposing party counterpart but may not disrupt the voting process on election day. The elected official and ACCOMPANYING expert are legally bound to keep all information received from this inspection confidential unless the elected official or the accompanying expert has a good faith belief that the voting equipment is malfunctioning or being exploited in any manner that violates any election law. The elected official's counterpart of the other party also has the right to bring their own expert.
