AN ACT
amending title 38, chapter 3, article 4, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 38‑450; relating to communications by public agencies and elected officials.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Title 38, chapter 3, article 4, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 38-450, to read:
38-450. Use of communication by public agency or elected official using public monies; self‑promotion prohibited; definition
A. An elected official of this state or a political subdivision of this state or a public agency shall not use public monies for any print media announcement, visual medium announcement, broadcast media announcement, website campaign or similar type of official communication to self‑promote that elected official or public agency. This subsection does not apply if the elected official or public agency is making an announcement as a public service or the communication is required by law to execute official duties.
B. For the purposes of this section, "public agency" means:
1. Any agency that receives public monies.
2. Any organization that receives fifty per cent or more of its revenues in public monies.
