AN ACT
Amending title 15, chapter 2, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 15‑249; relating to the department of education.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Title 15, chapter 2, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 15-249, to read:
15-249. Evaluation and recommendation of products
A. The department of education may evaluate and recommend to school districts and charter schools products such as curriculum programs, technology programs and software applications if independent research demonstrates that the product is clearly superior for pupils or improves administrative efficiency. The department shall develop evaluation and recommendation criteria to carry out the purposes of this section.
B. Nothing in this section shall be construed to provide the department of education with the authority to require school districts or charter schools to purchase specific products.
