A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

 

proposing an amendment to the constitution of Arizona; amending article IV, part 2, section 4, constitution of Arizona; relating to qualification for membership in legislature.

Be it resolved by the Senate of the State of Arizona, the House of Representatives concurring:

1.  Article IV, part 2, section 4, Constitution of Arizona, is proposed to be amended as follows if approved by the voters and on proclamation of the Governor:

START_STATUTE4.  Disqualification for membership in Legislature

Section 4.  No person holding any public office of profit or trust under the authority of the United States, or of this state, shall be a member of the legislature; Provided, that appointments in the state militia and the offices of notary public, justice of the peace and United States commissioner,  and postmaster of the fourth class, shall not work disqualification for membership within the meaning of this section. END_STATUTE

2.  The Secretary of State shall submit this proposition to the voters at the next general election as provided by article XXI, Constitution of Arizona.
