BILL NUMBER: AB 2525 INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Smyth FEBRUARY 24, 2012 An act to add Chapter 4.4 (commencing with Section 18944.20) to Part 3 of Division 13 of the Health and Safety Code, relating to building standards. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 2525, as introduced, Smyth. Appliances: tankless water heater venting materials. Existing law regulates the sale, purchase, or offer for sale of various appliances and devices, including heating appliances and automatic garage door openers. This bill would require materials used in the construction of exhaust systems designed for the extraction of toxic gases, if the failure of that material could result in physical harm to humans, be appropriately tested and suited for that purpose. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Chapter 4.4 (commencing with Section 18944.20) is added to Part 3 of Division 13 of the Health and Safety Code, to read: CHAPTER 4.4. EXHAUST SYSTEM CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS 18944.20. Materials used in the construction of exhaust systems designed for the extraction of toxic gases, where the failure of that material could result in physical harm to humans, shall be appropriately tested and suited for that purpose.
