AB 31, as introduced, Juan Carrillo. Public transit: funding.
Existing law provides various sources of funding for capital and operating expenses of public transit systems and intercity rail in the state.
This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact subsequent legislation that would appropriate funds for the development and operation of a privately run public transit system connecting the Victor Valley and the Antelope Valley in southern California.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 (a) The Legislature finds and declares both of the following:
(1) A public transit system connecting the Victor Valley to the Antelope Valley in southern California will enhance a public transit system connecting to the Metrolink Palmdale Train Station in the City of Palmdale and the Metrolink Los Angeles Union Station in the City of Los Angeles.
(2) In anticipation of the Soccer World Cup 2026 and the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028, this act will enhance the tourism experience in the County of Los Angeles and benefit the entire state.
(b) It is the intent of the Legislature to enact subsequent legislation that would appropriate funds for the development and operation of a privately run public transit system connecting the Victor Valley and the Antelope Valley in southern California.
