BILL NUMBER: AB 587 INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Fox FEBRUARY 20, 2013 An act to amend Section 7072.5 of the Government Code, relating to economic development. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 587, as introduced, Fox. Economic development: enterprise zones. Pursuant to the Enterprise Zone Act, a governing body that had designated a targeted employment area was also authorized to request, by a specified date, a redesignation of the targeted employment area using more current census data, subject to specified criteria. This bill would make a technical, nonsubstantive change to these provisions. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 7072.5 of the Government Code is amended to read: 7072.5. By April 1, 1998, a governing body that has already designated a target employment area may request, by a resolution of all cities or counties having jurisdiction over the enterprise zone, to redesignate the targeted employment area using more current census data. A targeted employment area shallbe comprisedconsist of census tracts from only one decennial census.
