Introduced by Senator Nguyen

An act relating to vehicles. An act to add Section 5252.1 to the Business and Professions Code, relating to outdoor advertising.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

SB 222, as amended, Nguyen. Electric bicycles. Outdoor advertising: applications.
Existing law, the Outdoor Advertising Act, provides for the regulation by the Department of Transportation of an advertising display, as defined, within view of public highways. Existing law requires the director to prescribe the form of all applications, licenses, permits, and other appurtenant written matter.
This bill would require the department to consider the approval or denial of a pending outdoor advertising application before construction on an applicable highway project is completed.

Existing law generally regulates the operation of bicycles, electric bicycles, motorized scooters, and electrically motorized boards. Existing law allows local authorities to regulate the registration, parking, and operation of bicycles and motorized scooters in a manner that does not conflict with state law.

This bill would declare the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation relating to electric bicycles.
