SR 99, Blakespear.

WHEREAS, The Fourth of July, also known as Independence Day, holds profound significance for the United States of America, as it commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, marking the nation’s independence from British rule and the birth of American democracy; and
WHEREAS, The Fourth of July symbolizes the principles of liberty, equality, and democracy upon which our nation was founded, serving as a reminder of the courageous actions of the framers of this nation who sought to establish a government of, by, and for the people; and
WHEREAS, The celebration of Independence Day brings Americans together in a spirit of unity, transcending differences of race, religion, and background as we reflect on the shared values that define us as a nation; and
WHEREAS, The State of California, as an integral part of the United States, proudly joins in observing Independence Day, honoring the sacrifices made by those who have served in the military and acknowledging the contributions of Californians to the progress and prosperity of our great nation; and
WHEREAS, The Legislature recognizes the Fourth of July as an occasion to reaffirm our commitment to upholding the principles of democracy and working together to build a brighter future for our state and nation; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate of the State of California, That the Legislature recognizes the significance of July 4 as Independence Day, and Californians are encouraged to celebrate Independence Day on July 4, 2024, with reverence, reflection, and gratitude for the blessings of freedom and democracy bestowed upon us; and be it further
Resolved, That the Secretary of the Senate transmit copies of this resolution to the author for appropriate distribution.
