AN ACT CONCERNING TRANSPORTATION AND TUITION COSTS OF STUDENTS WHOSE HEALTH CONDITION REQUIRES THEM TO ATTEND ANOTHER SCHOOL.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That title 10 of the general statutes be amended to require local or regional boards of education to be responsible for the transportation and tuition costs of a student, who is otherwise under the jurisdiction of such board, to attend an alternate school in the district or a school in another district due to health concerns of the student, provided the doctor of such student certifies that continual attendance of the student at the current school poses immediate and long-term health risks.
Statement of Purpose:
To safeguard the health of a child with a medical condition by having them attend a school that is most appropriate for such child's health condition.
