AN ACT CONCERNING THE USE OF TOBACCO SETTLEMENT FUNDS AND TOBACCO TAXES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to require that thirty-three per cent of all moneys that are (1) deposited in the Tobacco Settlement Fund, or (2) derived from taxes on tobacco products be allocated to programs that: (A) Relate to tobacco education, prevention and cessation programs, (B) promote pulmonary health, (C) reduce the incidence of asthma, and (D) expand access to health care for uninsured children and adults.

Statement of Purpose:

To ensure that state funds derived from the Tobacco Settlement Fund and taxes on tobacco products are allocated to programs that ameliorate the ill effects of such products.
