AN ACT CONCERNING MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. Subsection (a) of section 14-18 of the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective October 1, 2014):
(a) (1) Each motor vehicle for which one number plate has been issued shall, while in use or operation upon any public highway, display in a conspicuous place at the rear of such vehicle the number plate. [The commissioner may issue a sticker denoting the expiration date of the registration. Such sticker shall be displayed in such place on the vehicle as the commissioner may direct.] Each such motor vehicle shall also display the sticker issued in accordance with section 14-12, as amended by this act, denoting the expiration date of the registration. Such sticker may contain the corresponding letters and numbers of the registration and number plate, [issued] as assigned by the commissioner.
(2) Each motor vehicle for which two number plates have been issued shall, while in use or operation upon any public highway, display in a conspicuous place at the front and the rear of such vehicle the number plates. [The commissioner may issue a sticker denoting the expiration date of the registration. Such sticker shall be displayed in such place on the vehicle as the commissioner may direct. Such sticker] Each such motor vehicle shall also display the sticker issued in accordance with section 14-12, as amended by this act, denoting the expiration date of the registration, which may contain the corresponding letters and numbers of the registration and number plate, [issued] as assigned by the commissioner.
Sec. 2. Section 14-12 of the general statutes is amended by adding subsection (l) as follows (Effective October 1, 2014):
(NEW) (l) Each registration certificate or registration renewal certificate issued for a motor vehicle shall be accompanied by a sticker denoting the expiration date of such registration. Such sticker shall be displayed inside the rear windshield or elsewhere on the vehicle, as the commissioner may direct, at all times during the period for which such registration is effective.
