AN ACT REQUIRING CARBON MONOXIDE AND OXYGEN SENSORS ON PORTABLE ELECTRIC GENERATORS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2012) On and after January 1, 2014, no person, firm or corporation shall manufacture, sell, offer for sale or distribute in this state a portable electric generator unless such generator is equipped with (1) a carbon monoxide sensor that measures the level of carbon monoxide in the ambient air and causes the generator to shut down if such level exceeds the level established in Underwriters Laboratories Standard Number 2034, and (2) an oxygen sensor that measures the oxygen content of the ambient air and causes the generator to shut down if such air contains less than nineteen and one-half per cent oxygen by volume.
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: | ||
