AN ACT CONCERNING CREDIT CARD APPLICATIONS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective from passage) (a) For purposes of this section, "prefilled application" means an application containing any personal identifying information, as defined in section 53a-129a of the general statutes.

(b) No creditor or card issuer, as such terms are defined in 15 USC 1602, shall send by mail, facsimile machine, electronic mail or other means of transmission a prefilled application for a credit card, as defined in 15 USC 1602, to any resident of this state.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

Statement of Purpose:

To reduce identity theft by preventing creditors and card issuers from sending prefilled credit card applications to residents of this state.
