AN ACT CONCERNING PAYMENT OF CAMPAIGN AUDIT EXPENSES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That chapter 155 of the general statutes be amended to provide that a candidate committee for a candidate seeking state office, including a candidate for the General Assembly, shall not make final distribution of the committee's campaign funds until its treasurer receives official notice that any audit has been completed or that no audit will be conducted, that the expenses of complying with any audit, including professional fees and the cost of copying material, shall be deemed a campaign expense and may be paid from any remaining committee funds and that the final report of the candidate committee shall report any payment of audit expenses.
Statement of Purpose:
To provide financial resources for a candidate to pay the cost of responding to an audit.
