AN ACT PROHIBITING THIRD-PARTY VENDORS FROM COLLECTING STUDENT INFORMATION FOR PURPOSES OF MARKETING.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That title 10 of the general statutes be amended to prevent third party vendors from collecting, by means of student use of technology or the Internet, any student data and other personal student information for the purposes of marketing education products for sale to parents and schools districts.

Statement of Purpose:

To prevent third-party vendors from collecting and accessing student information through educational computer programs or the Internet and using it to market to parents and school districts.
