AN ACT CONCERNING PAYMENT TO HOSPITALS THAT PROVIDE UNCOMPENSATED CARE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That title 17b of the general statutes be amended to (1) compensate hospitals that provide free care to indigent persons who do not have health care coverage or do not qualify for such coverage under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, P.L. 111-148, or any successor federal law, and (2) require the Commissioner of Social Services to seek federal approval for any available matching funds for such payments.
Statement of Purpose:
To provide financial relief to hospitals that provide uncompensated care for indigent persons who do not have health care coverage or are not eligible for such coverage under federal health care law.
