AN ACT DELAYING THE START OF TEACHER EVALUATION AND SUPPORT PROGRAMS AND PERMITTING SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO ADOPT THEIR OWN TEACHER EVALUATION PROGRAMS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 10-151b of the general statutes be amended to delay the implementation of teacher evaluation and support programs until July 1, 2014. To further authorize local and regional boards of education, during the school year commencing July 1, 2013, to develop, in consultation with the teachers' representative chosen pursuant to section 10-153b of the general statutes, and adopt independent teacher evaluation models for such school district, provided the Department of Education approves such independent teacher evaluation program. Any such independent teacher evaluation program shall be administered as a pilot program for the school year commencing July 1, 2014, for the purposes of conducting informative evaluations for full implementation in the school year commencing July 1, 2015.
Statement of Purpose:
To delay the start of teacher evaluation and support programs and to permit boards of education to develop and adopt independent teacher evaluation programs.
