AN ACT CONCERNING MEDICAL COSTS OF CERTAIN VETERAN AMPUTEES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2015) Upon application by a veteran or member of the armed forces on a form prescribed by the Commissioner of Veterans' Affairs, the cost of medical services or equipment relating to the loss in service of an arm or leg in excess of any such costs covered by the federal Department of Veterans Affairs for such loss shall be borne by the Department of Veterans' Affairs. For the purposes of this section, "veteran" means any person who was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable from active service in the armed forces and "armed forces" has the same meaning as provided in section 27-103 of the general statutes.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:
