AN ACT IMPOSING A TAX ON BEVERAGES THAT ARE HIGH IN CALORIES AND SUGAR.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That chapter 219 of the general statutes be amended to impose a two per cent tax on all beverages that are high in calories and sugar.
Statement of Purpose:
To combat obesity by increasing the price of high calorie, sugary drinks.
