AN ACT CONCERNING THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH'S RECOMMENDATIONS ON FEES FOR VITAL RECORDS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. Section 7-74 of the 2016 supplement to the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective July 1, 2016):

(a) [The fee for a certification of birth registration, short form, shall be fifteen dollars. The fee for a certified copy of a certificate of birth, long form, shall be twenty dollars, except that the fee for such certifications and copies when issued] Except as otherwise provided in this section, the fee for a search for a vital record shall be twenty dollars, except the fee for a search for a birth record by the department shall be thirty dollars. Such fee shall include (1) the search, and (2) a certified copy of the vital record, a certification of birth registration or a certified letter stating that the results of the search indicate that there is no record on file.

[(b) (1) The fee for a certified copy of a certificate of marriage or death shall be twenty dollars. Such fees shall not be required of the department.]

[(2)] (b) Any fee received by the [Department of Public Health] department for a certificate of death shall be deposited in the neglected cemetery account, established in accordance with section 19a-308b.

(c) The fee for a search for a vital record and one certified copy of a certificate of death for any deceased person who was a veteran, as defined in subsection (a) of section 27-103, shall be waived when such copy is requested by a spouse, child or parent of such deceased veteran.

(d) The fee for a search for a vital record and an uncertified copy of an original certificate of birth issued pursuant to section 7-53 shall be sixty-five dollars.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:
