AN ACT CONCERNING FUNDING FOR ADDITIONAL TRAINING OF POLICE OFFICERS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 104 of the general statutes be amended to establish a separate, nonlapsing account within the General Fund to be used by the Police Officer Standards and Training Council to fund at least one additional training class for municipal police officers each calendar year. The account shall contain (1) tuition paid to the Police Officer Standards and Training Council by municipalities for said training courses and (2) a portion of all fines collected from citations issued by municipal police officers for motor vehicle infractions.

Statement of Purpose:

To provide a funding mechanism for additional police officer training.
