AN ACT CONCERNING THE ACCEPTANCE OF ADVANCED PLACEMENT COURSE CREDIT AT PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2018) The constituent units of higher education, as defined in section 10a-1 of the general statutes, shall accept and award college credit in the appropriate course offering to any student who scores a 4 or 5 on an advanced placement examination. Nothing in this section shall prohibit a constituent unit of higher education from accepting and awarding college credit for a score of 3 on an advanced placement examination. For purposes of this section, "advanced placement examination" means the examination accompanying an advanced placement course program; and "advanced placement course program" means a program approved by the State Board of Education that provides college or university-level instruction as part of a course for which credit is earned at the high school level.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

To require public institutions of higher education to accept and award college credit for advanced placement course examination scores of four or greater.
