AN ACT PROHIBITING ELECTED OFFICIALS FROM USING THEIR POSITIONS TO INFLUENCE THE EARLY RELEASE OF PRISONERS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That chapter 961 of the general statutes be amended to prohibit elected officials in Connecticut from using their positions to encourage or influence the early release of prisoners; provided that such prohibition shall not pertain to efforts to prove the innocence of certain convicted individuals.
Statement of Purpose:
To promote public safety by ensuring that elected officials do not use the power of office to influence the early release of prisoners.
