AN ACT CONCERNING THE GRAND JURY PROCESS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to reform the grand jury process by (1) allowing a single presiding judge to empanel a grand jury upon request of the state's attorney, (2) providing for greater cooperation between the grand jury and the state's attorney in investigative grand jury proceedings, and (3) allowing a grand jury to approve an investigatory subpoena upon request of the state's attorney.

Statement of Purpose:

To reform the grand jury process.
