AN ACT REQUIRING MOTOR VEHICLE INSURANCE PROVIDERS TO OFFER DISCOUNTS TO CUSTOMERS WHO DOWNLOAD APPLICATIONS THAT PREVENT TEXTING WHILE DRIVING.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to require an insurance company to offer a discount to any motor vehicle operator with motor vehicle insurance coverage from such company who has downloaded an application to such operator's mobile telephone that disables such telephone's ability to send or receive text messages when the device is traveling faster than ten miles per hour.
Statement of Purpose:
To encourage motor vehicle operators to comply with Connecticut's distracted driving laws.
