AN ACT CONCERNING NUMBER PLATES FOR VETERANS WHO RECEIVED THE PURPLE HEART.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That chapter 246 of the general statutes be amended to require the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles to verify that a veteran who applies for a special certificate of registration and set of number plates reflecting his or her status as a Purple Heart recipient has been awarded the Purple Heart by obtaining a copy of such veteran's DD 214.
Statement of Purpose:
To provide a means of verifying that a veteran who applies for a set of Purple Heart number plates was awarded the Purple Heart without requiring such veteran to join and pay dues to a national organization whose membership is limited to Purple Heart recipients.
