HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 37

RECOGNIZING APRIL 2012 AS CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH IN DELAWARE.



WHEREAS, there were approximately 14,000 reports of child abuse received in Delaware in 2011; and

WHEREAS, the prevention of child abuse is a matter of concern to citizens, state agencies and community organizations in Delaware; and

WHEREAS, collaborative partnerships among various groups can help make child abuse prevention programs successful; and

WHEREAS, all citizens of the State should encourage parents to raise their children in a safe, nurturing environment and support programs designed to help prevent child abuse;

NOW THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the 146th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the Senate concurring therein, that the month of April 2012 is designated as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Delaware.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all citizens, community organizations, state and local agencies, religious organizations, businesses and medical facilities are called upon to support efforts to prevent child abuse.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that suitably prepared copies of this Resolution be forwarded to Prevent Child Abuse Delaware, Grassroots Citizens for Children, Children & Families First, Children's Advocacy Center of Delaware, and the Office of the Child Advocate.


SYNOPSIS

This Resolution recognizes April 2012 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Delaware.
