HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 38 |
DESIGNATING SATURDAY MAY 1, 2010, AS "BRAIN TUMOR
AWARENESS DAY" IN THE STATE OF |
WHEREAS, every day an estimated 482 people are diagnosed with a brain tumor, an average of 20 people every hour; and
WHEREAS, there are more than 120 different types of brain tumors, making accurate and efficient treatment difficult; and
WHEREAS, the cause of brain tumors are unknown; and
WHEREAS, some brain tumors cannot be detected by a blood test, making an MRI or CT Scan the only effective diagnostic tool; and
WHEREAS, brain tumors affect people of all ages, genders, ethnicities, fitness levels and socioeconomic status; and
WHEREAS, brain tumor symptoms may include seizures, chronic headaches, dizziness, nausea or impaired faculties, including problems with vision, taste, smell, hearing, touch, memory, cognitive skills and physical function and coordination; and
WHEREAS, brain tumors are the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in children under the age of 20; and
WHEREAS,
in order to promote awareness of the causes, effects and treatments of brain
tumors in
NOW, THEREFORE:

IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the 145th General Assembly of
the State of

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of the General Assembly call on the Kelly
Heinz-Grundner Brain Tumor Foundation, along with the
