151st GENERAL ASSEMBLY
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 71
DECLARING APRIL OF EACH CALENDAR YEAR AS "PARLIAMENTARY LAW MONTH".
WHEREAS, the Parliamentarians of New Castle County, Delaware is a constituent division of the National Association of Parliamentarians and was the First Unit chartered in the State of Delaware.
WHEREAS, Tamika Davis-Cannon, President of the Parliamentarians of New Castle County, Delaware was the first African American Registered Parliamentarian in the history of the State.
WHEREAS, the Parliamentarians of New Castle County, Delaware recognizes that Parliamentary Law originated in Athens nearly 3,000 years ago and was later refined by the English and further codified by the United States Constitution; and
WHEREAS, the Parliamentarians of New Castle County, Delaware recognizes that the rules of Parliamentary Law are based on a regard for the rights of the majority, of the minority, especially a strong minority, greater than one-third of individual members and of absentees; and
WHEREAS, the Parliamentarians of New Castle County, Delaware is dedicated to serving the entire community by sponsoring educational courses, youth workshops, seminars and providing its collective expertise on parliamentary law, when requested by individuals and/or organizations; and
WHEREAS, the Parliamentarians of New Castle County, Delaware celebrates the month of April as “Parliamentary Law Month” statewide.
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the 151st General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the Senate Concurring therein, that April of each calendar year be recognized as Parliamentary Law Month.
SYNOPSIS
This Concurrent Resolution declares April of each year "Parliamentary Law Month".
